Introduction – This is the easiest recipe to make at home. Tandoori Chicken Recipe is the first choice of non-veg eaters. This is a Mughal dish. To make this recipe, chicken is first marinated for 5 to 6 hours by mixing spices in curd. By doing this the chicken becomes soft and the spices taste better. Chicken is slowly roasted in a tandoor over a slow fire of charcoal. The smoky flavor of charcoal doubles up its taste. After roasting well on low flame, it is served with spicy green chutney of coriander mint and raw onions. This dish is very much liked as a starter snack at cocktail parties. It is easily available in roadside dhabas and above restaurants and it is also known as tandoori murg there. You can easily make this tandoori chicken at home too, so let’s start making it.

  • Chicken – 800 gm
  • Curd – 500 gm (beaten)
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri chili – 1 tbsp (for color)
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp 
  • Garam masala – 1 tbspn
  • Cumin seeds powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • salt – as per taste
  • Black salt – 1/2 tbsp
  • Mustard oil – 2 tbsp
  • butter – 100 gm
  • Black paper powder – 1 tbsp
  • Fenugreek leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Chat masala – 1 tbsp
  • Green coriander leaves – 1/2 tbsp

Tandoori Chicken Instruction: 


Step 1
First of all, Put a pen on the flame and put mustard oil in it when it becomes hot, add Kashmiri chili and turmeric powder and heat it lightly, Once cooled add curd and mix well and add all the spices and red chili powder, salt, coriander powder, fenugreek leaves, cumin seeds powder, black pepper powder, lemon juice, garlic, and ginger paste, black salt and mix it well. Check the paste, you can increase or decrease the taste of salt and pepper according to your taste.
Step 2
Wash the chicken thoroughly and pat it with a cloth, make big cuts on all the pieces with a knife put it in the past we have prepared for the marinade, and coat all the chicken pieces well by hand. Keep this chicken marinated for the maximum time you have, like 5 hours, or 6 hours.
Step 3
After the chicken is marinated for 6 hours, now we will roast it in an earthen oven, if we do not have a tandoor, then take a small Bhatti, which we call single, By sewing the flame of raw coal on the single. We will thread our chicken in thin iron rods, apply the spice of marinate on top of our hands, and keep it on the fire to roast Sinhalese.
Step 4
Keep the flame on low and slowly keep turning the chicken. As the chicken is being cooked, we will keep applying butter little by little on it. It will take at least 30 to 45 minutes to roast the chicken, Keep applying butter little by little and keep turning slowly.
Step 5

When your Tandoori chicken Recipe is well done, take it out on a plate and put some butter on top, apply lemon juice, and sprinkle some chaat masala. Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with coriander mint chutney and raw onions.

Tips And Notes


1 – Before marinating the chicken, make sure to make big cuts in it, because of this, when the chicken is cooked, its taste will be very tasty and flavourful.
2 – The curd that you use for marinating, tie it in a cloth and drain all the water out of it, if there is water, then masala will not be good and will not hold to on the chicken.
3 – Roast fenugreek on a hot griddle before adding it to the marinade spices, then after it cools down, crush it and add it, it will give a wonderful aroma.
4 – Make sure to marinate the chicken for at least 6 to 8 hours, only then the tandoori chicken will develop its traditional flavor, reducing the marinade time will not give it a good taste.
