Pineapple Raita is a cool and rich in nutrients dish eaten during summer which gives a refreshing feeling. In this season of scorching heat, dishes made from curd are very beneficial for our health. There is hardly any house in India where curd and the buttermilk made from it are not used in summer. Pineapple Raita also comes in this category. This raita is used as a side dish. Its sour, sweet, and salty taste attracts our taste buds. The main ingredients of Pineapple Raita are curd and small pieces of pineapple slices. Yogurt is a type of probiotic food. Curd contains an abundance of bacteria, which is why it is very beneficial for our intestines. Consuming curd regularly also improves our digestion. Curd is rich in protein, vitamin B6 vitamin B12, and calcium which strengthens our teeth and bones. You can consume curd any time of the day. However, according to some doctors, consumption of curd at night can affect our health. According to them, eating curd at night can increase our cough and phlegm. Pineapple is the main fruit grown in southern Brazil and It is a cactus plant. Pineapple is grown in India mainly in Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh because the climate and soil of these states are favorable for its cultivation. Zinc, phosphorus, calcium, and vitamin A are also found in pineapple. Along with this, especially vitamin C manganese and calcium are also available in abundance in it.
Which is beneficial for our health, manganese and calcium strengthen teeth and bones. Indian farmers grow many varieties of pineapple like Lakhat, Cave, Queen, Giant, Jaldhup Mauritius etc. Among all these varieties, Rani and Kev are grown on a large scale in the north-eastern states of India. Among these varieties, the Rani pineapple is juicier and sweeter and its color is golden yellow. The pineapple fruit gets ripe in 18 to 20 months. To make Pineapple Raita, the round slices of Pineapple Murabba available in the market are cut into small pieces with the help of a sharp knife, after that, put the pineapple slices in whipped fresh curd in a big bowl and add salt and cumin powder as per taste. Add black pepper powder and red chili powder, some pomegranate seeds, mix everything well, garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves, keep it in the fridge, and serve after cooling.

  • 500 gm – Dahi (Fresh)
  • 4 – Pineapple Slices (Canned Marmalade Slices)
  • 1/2 cup – of pomegranate Arils
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Black Pepper (Crushed)
  • 1/3 teaspoon – Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon – Suger Powder (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon – Green Coriander Leaves(Filely Chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon – Mint Leaves (Finely Chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Salt (As Per Taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Black Salt (As Per Taste)
  • 1/2 cup – Fresh Cream


Pineapple Raita Instruction:

 

Step 1
First of all, take 500 grams of fresh curd in a big bowl beat it well, well, and keep it in the fridge to cool for half an hour. Peel the pomegranate and separate its seeds. We need about 100 grams of seeds. Take them out and keep them in the fridge.
Step 2
After removing the pineapple slices from the box, cut them into half-inch size pieces. Chop coriander and mint leaves finely with the help of a sharp knife.

When the curd cools down after keeping it in the fridge for about half an hour, Put some chopped coriander leaves and some mint leaves in the bowl, add roasted cumin powder, chili powder, salt as per taste, half a teaspoon black salt, finely ground black pepper, one teaspoon sugar powder, and fresh cream, and mix everything well.
Step 4 
After mixing all the ingredients well, take out the pineapple raita in a serving bowl add some pomegranate seeds, and garnish it by adding chopped coriander leaves and chopped mint leaves. 
So our Pineapple Raita is ready. Serve it cold with any naan, roti, paratha, or other vegetable.

Tips And Notes

1 – To make pineapple raita, always use fresh curd and keep in mind that it should not be sour. It is very good if the curd is homemade, otherwise even while buying it from the market, keep in mind that the curd should be fresh and not sour.

2 – The addition of fresh cream or fresh malai makes the pineapple raita taste very delicious. Before adding fresh cream or fresh malai to the raita, beat it keep it in the fridge, and let it cool well, only then mix it.
3 – To make pineapple raita more delicious, peel the fresh sweet apples cut them into small pieces, and mix them in it. You can also use cherry jam by cutting it into pieces for garnishing the raita.
4 – Adding sugar powder to pineapple raita is optional. If your curd is fresh and there is no sourness in it, then do not add sugar powder. Otherwise, you can add sugar powder to the pineapple raita as per your taste.

There are about 32 gm of sugars in 400 gm of pineapple pieces by the agriculture department. If you are a diabetic patient, then consult your doctor before eating pineapple.
Q: Can we store Pineapple Raita?
Ans: The taste of pineapple raita changes when used after storing it. If you want to store pineapple raita, do not store it by mixing pineapple slices in it. Keep the beaten curd and pineapple pieces separately and store them in the refrigerator and store them only from morning to evening or the next day.
