In villages, milch animals like cows and buffaloes are reared, which give milk daily. Often, when excess milk gets collected, the women of the house boil the milk, make mawa from it and prepare mawa barfi, which is eaten with great relish by children and elders in the house and this sweet lasts for 5 or 6 days. More milk is also used and everyone in the house gets a delicious home-made sweet dish.

In cities, dairy animals are not reared due to lack of space, so people here buy readymade mawa from the market and use it to make delicious mawa barfi and other dishes at home. People often offer mawa barfi as prasad after worshipping God in temples.

Many types of barfi and other sweets are prepared by mixing mawa with many other ingredients. These are available at different rates according to the ingredients, but mawa barfi is available in the market at the lowest rates compared to other Indian sweets.

To make this delicious dish, put mawa in a pan and roast it well, then add sugar and roast it and after it is ready, add dry fruits and cardamom powder as per your choice, and when it cools down, set it well in a deep plate and freeze it. After keeping it for 2 to 3 hours, cut the barfi in square shape and serve it. So let’s make this delicious dish.

Mawa Barfi Ingredients:

 

  • 1 kg – Mawa
  • 200 gm – Suger
  • 50 gm – Almond (chopped
  • 25 gm – Pistachio (chopped)
  • 8 – Green Cardamom

 

Mawa Barfi Direction:

 

Step 1

Place a non-stick deep pan on the flame and pour the readymade mawa bought from the market into it and let it melt well by stirring continuously with a spoon for about 8-10 minutes.

Step 2

After about 10 minutes, when the mawa melts well and gets roasted a little, add sugar to it and keep stirring it continuously with a spoon. Reduce the flame to medium and keep stirring the mawa continuously.

Step 3

After adding sugar, keep stirring the mawa on a medium flame for about 8 to 10 minutes. When there is a good crackling sound inside the mawa, Add chopped pistachios, almonds, and cardamom powder into the mawa mix well turn off the flame, and remove the pan from the flame. Let the mawa cool down to room temperature while stirring it.

Step 4

When the mawa reaches room temperature, spread it on a round or square plate with vertical edges to a thickness of half an inch to a quarter inch. Lift the plate with both hands and slam it on the ground three to four times. By doing this, the Mawa Barfi will become even on top and will spread equally thick in all the parts of the plate.

Step 5

Garnish the Mawa Barfi by adding finely chopped almonds and pistachios and pressing them lightly with your fingers. Leave it to cool. After about 2 to 3 hours, the Mawa Barfi will cool down and set completely. Cut it into 1.5-inch Square Size pieces with the help of a knife and take it out in a separate plate. So here our precious Mawa Barfi is ready, you can serve it.

Tips And Notes

 

1 – If you want to make fresh mawa at home, then put the milk in a non-stick pan and after it boils, keep stirring continuously until it turns into a soft solid form. Otherwise, readymade mawa is also available in the market. You can make barfi from that mawa too.

2 – Although, according to the correct quantity, it is made by adding 250 grams of sugar in 1 kg of mawa, but if you are diabetic or you like to eat less sweet, then you can reduce the amount of sugar in mawa barfi as per your choice.

3 – While preparing to make Mawa Barfi, chop almonds and pistachios with the help of a fine knife and grind green cardamom thoroughly to make a fine powder. If you do not want to garnish Mawa Barfi with almonds and pistachios, then you can also garnish it with silver or gold foil.
