Moong Dal Pakoda is a delightful soft from the inside and crispy from the outside dish to be eaten any time of the day. Be it any kind of pakoda, gram flour is used to make all the pakodas but this moong dal pakoda is made without gram flour and it is very tasty to eat.

At any time of the day, if you wish to eat something spicy and crispy or if some special guest is coming to your house, then prepare moong dal pakodas and serve them with tea. Be it kids or adults, these attract everyone to eat them due to their excellent taste. And it does not take much time to make them, you just need to have soaked moong dal ready.

Hardly any other pakora is liked as much as this moong dal pakoda. Gram flour is used to make all other pakodas but gram flour is not used to make this pakoda and that is why its taste is different from other pakodas. Perhaps this is also a reason why it is liked so much.

In the state of Uttarakhand, India, there is a small town on the roadside near Dehradun, whose name is Biharigarh. This moong dal pakoda is made at many roadside shops there. This is a very famous moong dal pakoda of that place. All the passengers passing through the road, whether they are traveling in buses or their private cars, everyone stops there and tastes this famous pakoda.

To make this delicious recipe, yellow moong dal is soaked in water for 1 hour, then green chilies and ginger are added to it and it is coarsely ground. After that, finely chopped coriander and other aromatic spices are added and small pakodas are made in hot cooking oil and fried till golden brown. Moong Dal Pakoda Ingredients:

 

  • 250 – Moong Dal (yellow)
  • 2 – Potato (boiled)
  • 700 gm Cooking Oil
  • ½ teaspoon – Salt (as per taste)
  • ½ teaspoon – Red Chili Powder (as per taste)
  • 1 teaspoon – Coriander Powder
  • ½ teaspoon – Cumin Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon – Garam Masala
  • 1 tablespoon – Chaat Masala
  • 2 – Green Chili
  • 1 tablespoon – Green Coriander (finely chopped)
  • 1 inches – Ginger


Moong Dal Pakoda Direction:

 

Step 1

Wash 250 grams of yellow moong dal thoroughly with clean water two to three times and soak it in water for about 1 hour. After 1 hour, put the lentils in an iron sieve drain all the water, and then put it in a grinder jar and add two green chillies and 1 inch piece of ginger and grind the lentils coarsely.

Step 2

After the lentils are ground, take them out on a big plate and add half a teaspoon of cumin seeds, half a teaspoon of red chili powder, half a teaspoon of garam masala, salt as per taste, and one tablespoon of finely chopped coriander. Everyone will mix it well. We will keep the dal mixture aside. Now, we will prepare to fry the moong dal pakoda.

Step 3

Place a non-stick pan on the flame and pour cooking oil in it. Keep the flame medium. When the cooking oil is heated well, put small-sized pakodas in the hot oil with your fingers and fry them till they turn golden brown, turning them with a slotted spoon on both sides.

Step 4

When the pakodas are nicely fried and golden brown, take them out on a plate on tissue paper. We will make pakodas using the remaining moong dal batter differently. Peel and grate one boiled potatoes in the mixer add salt and chilli powder as per taste and mix well in the mixer.

Step 5

Now put small-sized pakoras in the hot oil with the help of fingers from this mixture. When pakoras are lightly cooked from one side, flip them with the help of a slotted spoon and fry them till they turn golden on medium flame.

Step 6

When the pakoras are fried well and turn golden crispy, take them out on a plate on tissue paper. Make pakoras using the remaining dal mixture in the same way. So here our delicious crispy Moong Dal Pakoda is ready. Sprinkle chaat masala well over the pakoras Serve them with green coriander mint chutney and hot tea.

1 – If you are making moong dal pakora for children, then keep in mind that put fewer green chillies or red chilies in it because children do not like to eat too spicy food.

2 – If you like to eat garlic, then while grinding the soaked lentils, add some garlic cloves to the lentils and grind them. Chop the onion finely and mix it in the lentils before making the pakoras. The taste of garlic and onion also gives a good taste to the pakoras.

3 – If you have made more moong dal pakoras then you can also make a vegetable with thin tomato gravy for these moong dal pakoras. Their vegetable is also very tasty to eat.
