In this recipe, Sama rice is washed with clean water and soaked for 15 minutes, after which chopped potatoes and peanuts are roasted by adding a little cooking oil, after which some aromatic spices like coriander powder, black pepper powder, and rock salt are added. Sama rice is boiled with water in a certain proportion for 10-15 minutes. After it is ready, add green coriander and pure desi ghee and serve it hot. So let’s make this delicious great recipe.

Sama Chawal Khichdi Recipe Ingredients:

 

  • 200 gm – Sama Rice
  • 1 – Potato (big size)
  • 100 gm – Desi Ghee (pure)
  • 1/2 cup – Peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon – Coriander Powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon – Red Chilli Powder (as per taste)
  • 1/3 teaspoon – Rock Salt (as per taste)
  • 12 – Black Pepper (coarsely ground)
  • 2 – Green Chilli (chopped)
  • 1 Serving spoon – Green Coriander Leaves (chopped)

 

Sama Chawal Khichdi Recipe Instructions:

 

Step 1
First of all, after cleaning the Sama rice, wash it thoroughly with water and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Peel the potatoes, cut them into small pieces, and soak them in water. Finely chop the green chilies. Finely chop the green coriander and grind the black pepper finely.
Step 2
Place a non-stick pan over the flame and add desi ghee inside it. When the desi ghee gets heated well, put the peanuts inside it and roast them. It takes two to three minutes for the peanuts to be roasted. Keep the flame medium. When our peanuts are roasted, take them out on a plate. After soaking the Sama rice in water for 15 minutes, filter it in an iron sieve and remove all the water.
Step 3
Now keep only one serving spoon of ghee inside the pan, remove the rest, and turn on the flame. When the ghee becomes hot, add cumin seeds and when the cumin seeds start crackling, add coriander powder, red chili powder, black pepper, Rock salt, and chopped green chilies and stir well. keep the flame low. After stirring for 30 seconds, add the chopped potatoes inside the pan and mix well while stirring for 2 minutes.
Step 4
After cooking for about 2 minutes, put the soaked rice in the pan and mix while stirring, after that add two and a half glasses of water. Add half the fried peanuts and keep the other half for garnish. Now cover the pan tightly with a lid reduce the flame to medium and let the khichdi cook slowly. Stir the Khichdi occasionally and keep checking after about a minute.
Step 5
After about 10 to 15 minutes, your Khichdi will gradually thicken and start getting ready. After about 15 minutes, your Sama Rice Khichdi will start getting consistency. If you like the Khichdi to be thick then you can add a little hot water inside it. After about 15 minutes, your khichdi will be ready.
Step 6
Add one serving spoon of desi ghee and a little chopped coriander and mix well. Switch off the flame. Take out the Khichdi in a serving bowl, Garnish with remaining roasted peanuts and a little green coriander, and add some desi ghee on top. Now our Sama Chawal Khichdi Recipe is ready, serve hot. Tips And Notes

 

1 – If you want to make Sama Rice Khichdi in a pressure cooker, then it can be easily made in a pressure cooker too. After putting the Khichdi in the pressure cooker, put the lid on it and after just one whistle, this Khichdi is ready.
2 – If we make basic rice khichdi for fasting, we do not add any extra vegetables to it. If you are not making khichdi for fasting, then you can add other vegetables of your choice like beans, cabbage, carrots, pe, etc.
3 – Sama rice khichdi should always be made in desi ghee. When made in desi ghee, the taste of khichdi is very good which is not achieved by making it in cooking oil.
4 – If you are not making Sama Rice Khichdi for fasting then add red Kashmirchilili in desi ghee and add curry leaves and tadka (Tempring) on top, it will taste much better.
