Arbi Masala Recipe is a special dry vegetable recipe made during Hindu religious festivals like Shivratri and Navratri in India.

Since it’s made for religious occasions, garlic and onion are not used in this recipe. However, if you’re making it on other days, you can use garlic and onion. You can make this recipe by boiling or frying it. This recipe tastes delicious either way.

In this recipe, arbi (Colosasia) is thoroughly washed, then boiled in a pressure cooker. Peeled, cut into small pieces, and a spice paste is prepared, including asafoetida, carom seeds, black pepper, rock salt, and green chilies. Cooked thoroughly, it’s ready to be served. Garnished with coriander leaves, you can enjoy it with roti, paratha, or puri. So, let’s embark on the wonderful journey of making the arbi masala recipe.

Arbi Masala Recipe Ingredients:

 

  • 500 Gm –  Arbi (Colocasia)
  • 2 tablespoon – Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Carom Seeds
  • 2 teaspoon – Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Red Chili Powder (as per taste)
  • 1/2 – Black Paper (crushed)
  • 2 -Green Chili (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon – Sendha Namak (Rock Salt, as per taste)
  • 1 – Lemon
  • 1 tablespoon – Green Coriander Leaves (chopped)

Arbi Masala Recipe Instructions:

 

Step 1
First of all, we will wash the colocasia by rubbing it thoroughly with the fingers in water so that the soil on top of it becomes clean. Now we will put the barbie in the pressure cooker to boil, for that we will put the barbie in the pressure cooker and add water of 4 to 5 Water has to be kept so much that the barbie is immersed in the water well.
Step 2
Putting the cover of the pressure cooker, we will put the Arbi on the flame to boil, two whistles have to be put in the cooker to boil the Arbi. When the cooker gets two whistles, close the flame and remove all the pressure from the cooker to see whether our Arbi has boiled or not. We will test the Arabic with a toothpick, if the toothpick goes inside well, then our Arbi boil is done and if it does not go inside, then we will apply one more whistle and boil the Arbi well.

When the colocasia is well boiled, put it in a sieve remove all the water, and keep it cool. When the Arbi cools down, peel them with the help of a knife. Cut into half-inch size pieces.

Step 4
Place a nonstick pan over a flame and add two servings of cooking oil. When the file becomes hot, put celery in it, when celery starts to crackle, then put chopped green chilies inside it. After this, add coriander powder, red chili powder, black pepper, and salt and stir slowly.
Step 5
After 20 seconds, the Masala should be well roasted, put the chopped arbi in the pan and mix them all well, turning the flame to medium. slow the flame and cook well for 5 minutes while stirring like this, After 5 to 7 minutes when the colocasia is cooked well, remove the flem.

Now we will add lemon juice to the arbi made according to the test, Take out arbi in a serving bowl, and garnish with chopped coriander leaves, now our Arbi Masala Recipe is ready, serve hot. If you are fasting then you can eat it because we have used rock salt in it. You can eat it with buckwheat puri, roti, or buckwheat paratha.

Tips And Notes


1 – If you want to make arbi by frying, then wash and peel the arbi cut it lengthwise, and fry, the rest of the process will remain the same.
2 – Apply mustard oil or any cooking oil on your hands and knife before peeling raw Arbi, by doing this your hands will not get itchy.
3 – You can store the rabies in an airtight container in the refrigerator, it can be used for two to three days.
4 – You can take flour puris and these arbi masala before going on a journey. These arbi masala and flour puris are very tasty to eat during the journey.

Q: What spices are put in arbi?
Ans: Due to fasting in Arbi, some limited spices are added like coriander powder, chili powder, black pepper powder, rock salt, green coriander, etc. If you are not making Arbi for fasting, then you can increase the quantity of spices.

Ans: Fiber is very important for the digestive system and for digesting food and fiber is found in abundance in colocasia, so colocasia food is very beneficial for health.
Q: Can we give colocasia to small children?
Ans: Arbi after cooking becomes a very soft dish. You can give them to small children whose teeth have not come out and they can eat solid food.
